CTA RECEIVES NYCOSH REPORT ON HEALTH AND SAFETY
ISSUES
The Association received the report
from the New York Committee on Safety and Health (NYCOSH),
which can be reviewed by clicking below. The District
has also received a copy of the report. The Association
expects that the District will implement procedures and
actions to address the concerns raised in the report.
The Association also expects the District to convene the
District’s Health and Safety Committee prior to
the end of January.
While the Association thanks NYCOSH for its time, effort
and attention to the CTA's concerns, all buildings could
not be inspected during the first visit. Therefore,
it will be requested that NYCOSH returns to inspect
those buildings that limited time prevented from being
inspected. NYCOSH representatives will also be returning
to train Association committee members on identification
and remediation of health and safety issues.
The CTA will form an Association Health
and Safety Committee to bring teacher concerns to the
District’s Health and Safety Committee. The Association
is asking for two volunteers from each building to serve
on the Association’s committee. The building representatives
are being encouraged to forward two building volunteer
names to the CTA office as soon as possible.
